Assistive Technology Data - Denmark (AssistData) contains information about 52653 assistive devices and 978 Danish suppliers of assistive devices. In AssistData you will find descriptions of the assistive devices, information on technical specifications, test information, prices and the supplier's contact information. There are pictures of most devices, and there is an increasing number of brochures, video clips and manuals (manuals and brochures are only available in the Danish version).
AssistData also includes news, references and links.
News is partly from the National Board of Social Services and partly from the suppliers who have devices in AssistData.
References are related to product groups in AssistData. Hence the references are linked to the related product groups and reverse.
Links include links to other large databases/information systems with information on assistive technology, including links to ohter national assistive technology databases.
The content of AssistData is rapidly extended and updated. If you should find any errors or shortcomings you are always very welcome to write us at hmi-basen@servicestyrelsen.dk.
Notice! The Danish version of the website is more informative than the English version. E.g. only the Danish version includes a forum and a list of principal rulings and the Danish version has more litterature references than the English version. Furthermore in the English version, devices will only be presented with a description in English if the supplier has made such a description.

Classification
All product series in AssistData are classified by their primary function in accordance with the international standard, Assistive products for persons with disability – Classification and terminology, EN ISO 9999:2007 (ISO classification) and in accordance with a subdivision level given by AssistData.
Product series are always given a classification code consisting of 8 numbers, in which the 1st and 2nd number state the ISO classifications class, the 3rd and 4th number state the subclass, the 5th and 6th number state the division and the 7th and 8th number state the subdivision. Each class, subclass, division and subdivision has a title and in most cases a descriptive definition, possibly with cross references.

Class 18
Class 18 has the following title Furnishings and adaptations to homes and other premises and the following descriptionIncluded are, e.g., furniture (with or without castors) for rest and/or work and accessories (attachments) for furniture and assistive products and fixtures for adaptation of residential, vocational and educational premises. Sets of castors, see 24 36 06. Assistive products for environmental improvement, see 27 03.
Subclass 1812
Subclass 1812 has the following title Beds and the following descriptionIncluded are, e.g., beds with adjustable and non-adjustable body positions and detachable bed-boards/mattress support platforms. Assistive products for pressure-sore prevention (antidecubitus), see 04 33. Assistive products for transfer and turning, see 12 31. Assistive products for lifting, see 12 36.
Division 181215
Division 181215 has the following title Bedding and the following descriptionBed linen and fixing devices for bed linen. Included are, e.g., cushions, hygienic underpads, urine/liquid-absorbing underpads and fixing devices for blankets. Excluded are mattresses and mattress coverings.
Subdivision 181215-11
Subdivision 181215-11 has the following title Duvets and the following descriptionCoverings keeping persons warm when lying in bed.
Users and page views
AssistData has approximately 55,000-75,000 visits per month. The visitors of AssistData are primarily case managers, therapists, buyers, users of assistive devices and their relatives. Information about devices in AssistData is also presented on the European portal EASTIN which is available in all European languages. In this way information from AssistData becomes visible on the international market.
Data entry and update
The information in AssistData is retrieved in partnership with the Danish suppliers of assistive devices. All suppliers of assistive devices in Denmark can execute data entries and update information on their devices in AssistData.
International cooperation
EASTIN
As partners in the EU-project EASTIN (European Assistive Technology Information Network), several European members of the International Alliance of Assistive Technology Information Providers have developed the portal EASTIN, from which it is possible to search for information from more European Assistive Technology databases from one and the same search interface. The Information includes product information, supplier and manufacturer information, case stories, magazine articles etc.Nordic partnership
AssistData is developed in partnership with NAV in Norway. The Norwegian Hjelpemiddeldatabasen has the same structure as AssistData, but the product information in the two databases is collected from Norwegian and Danish suppliers of assistive devices respectively.In addition the National Board of Social Services and NAV cooperate with Hjälpmedelsinstitutet in Sweden (HI), the national research and development centre Institutet för hälsa och välfärd (THL) in Finland and the national assistive technology centre Hjálpartækjamidstød Tryggingastofnun ríkisins from Iceland in the preparation and development of the classification and models for collecting technical data concerning certain product groups.
Accessibility
It is our aim to make AssistData accessible for as many people as possible in as many different situations as possible and from as many different technological platforms as possible. AssistData is coded with a valid mark-up code (HTML Transitional 4.01) and used with valid stylesheet (CSS). We have aimed at ensuring that all pages comply with the international guidelines for accessible web design issued by World Wide Web Consortium/Web Accessibility Initiative (W3C/WAI) at an AA-level.Disclaimer
